5 years ago, whilst working as an Arbonne consultant, my journey to Vegan began. I had been a Vegetarian for 30 years, but I was still feeling lethargic and struggling to focus. One of the main reasons I resisted so long was because of my love of cheese and all things dairy. I just couldn’t imagine a life without my favourite salads - topped with the finest Italian mozzarella, or a sprinkling of feta, washed down with a nice glass of fizz.

A fellow Arbonne consultant suggested to me to try Arbonne’s 30 Day to Healthy Living Plan and so, being a consultant myself, I thought I owed it to my customers and myself to try it. I had tried elements of the plan (the shakes, snack bars and herbal infusions), but I hadn’t ever committed to the full 30 days. So I thought “Sarah, practice what you preach,” and so with the nothing ventured nothing gained attitude I went for it. And looking back now I think why on earth didn’t I try it sooner?! After the 30 days (dairy-free), I felt more energised, I was sleeping better and mentally I felt fantastic. My husband did the plan with me and we liked it so much and felt so rejuvenated and focused that we continued the plan for a further 2 months.

Dairy was the final animal-based food type I had to remove in order for my diet to be wholly plant-based and so, after the 30 Day to Healthy Living Plan, my Vegan journey had now truly begun.

The Arbonne 30 days to healthy living plan allows you to establish healthy eating habits from day 1, with clean eating, activity and restful sleep. The plan itself isn’t Vegan, but all of the products are and it is recommended to exclude dairy whilst on it. I used to suffer a lot with my gut and didn’t realise until I did the plan that so much of our body’s overall wellbeing is actually controlled by it. A healthy gut really does contribute to a healthy body and mind. Not to mention healthy looking skin. With balanced nutrition, consistent hydration and a more relaxed mindset you will transform the appearance of your skin. Mine is the best it's ever been and I truly do believe it's down to Arbonne’s products and the fact I am now happier in myself.

The 30 day programme enhances your nutritional intake by focusing on a routine of whole foods, coupled with vegan protein shakes and select nutritional supplements. It’s also about limiting empty calories and highly processed foods with little nutritional value (like cheese unfortunately)!

One of the great things about the plan is that it is totally achievable - good eating habits, coupled with exercise and a positive mindset. You can also customise the plan to fit your journey, depending on your needs - whether it be a complete body cleanse, daily fibre support or getting more fruit and veg into your diet.

Before I did the plan my body was telling me I needed to change, that’s why I was feeling tired and having headaches, but now I am tuned into that. I am eating and drinking more intuitively and giving my body the nutrients it needs to function properly.

One of my go-to Arbonne products now when I need a boost are the Citrus, Strawberry and Pomegranate Energy Fizz Sticks. They replace my morning coffee (which was another of my vices) and also if I start to feel the afternoon slump. You simply dissolve them into 400ml of water. They are only 13 calories per stick and packed full of essential B vitamins.

On a daily basis I also make the Vanilla or Chocolate Vegan Protein Shakes, which contain 24 vitamins and minerals and essential amino acids to help support the muscles and a healthy gut. To jazz them up you can also add frozen fruit and berries, or if you like a bit of a kick, the recipe for the Nutty Apple Cinnamon Shake is delicious.

I am only human and don’t stick to the plan 100% of the time, but 80% of the time I do and it’s all about the 80/20 rule. My family and I now regularly eat whole foods and balanced meals of protein, carbohydrates and non-starchy veg and feel so much better for it.

The important thing to remember is that everyone’s journey is different, so listen to your body. If your gut is telling you it isn’t feeling great, or mentally you don’t feel right, then do something about it. You will be amazed how a few tweaks can make you feel so much better.
